It is often the case that following an electrical test and inspection on a buildings electrical system that further investigation may be required, for example if the insulation resistance reading of a particular circuit is below the minimum acceptable value of 1 Mohm as per BS 7671:2008.

This was the case concerning the appended photo and after further investigation our engineer found that the neutral conductor and earth conductors had been terminated incorrectly causing overheating of the terminals.

It is hidden faults such as these that can lead to a fire or electrical shock.
